What Leaving A Bowl Of Coffee Grounds Out In Your Basement Can Do
By JOANNA MARIE
Coffee grounds are often discarded after brewing. However, they can be repurposed as an eco-friendly and cost-effective way to improve air quality in musty spaces like basements.
When you leave a bowl of coffee grounds out in your basement, the nitrogen in the grounds tackles sulfur gas and organic materials responsible for persistent, unpleasant smells.
Moreover, coffee grounds absorb moisture, making the air dry and less welcoming for mold and mildew — common culprits of musty basement odors — thus further improving air quality.
Although coffee grounds successfully eliminate musty odors and keep the basement smelling fresh, they must be regularly reapplied to maintain their effectiveness.
