What To Know Before Buying Quartz Countertops From Lowe's & Home Depot
By KYLE SCHURMAN
If you’re pondering whether to purchase your quartz countertops from Lowe’s or Home Depot, comparing these two big-box hardware stores could help you decide which is best for you.
Regarding price, a sample countertop at Lowe's was $2.16 more than at The Home Depot before any discounts were applied, which was less than a 0.1% difference on the entire bill.
The Home Depot gives a 10% discount on ordering, so it wins there. At Lowe's, you need to enter a discount code on the website — if it’s a good discount, you may get a better deal.
The comparison was based on a 3-cm thick 4-by-8-foot rectangular countertop with no sink or cut-outs, a ¾-inch radius on all four corners, bevel edging, and no demolition costs.
At The Home Depot, many quartz countertops start at $63.90 per square foot. For 32 square feet, it charged $2,044 ($2,272 without a discount), including delivery and installation.
At Lowe's, most quartz countertops start at $71 per square foot. However, it had a few significantly discounted models — for those who aren't picky — for $54.60 per square foot.
For the same Atlantic Salt color chosen at The Home Depot, the slab was $71 per square foot at Lowe's. For 32 square feet, Lowe's charged $2,274.16, including delivery.
