What's The Best Time Of Year To Plant Lavender For A Fragrant Garden?
By PEG ALOI
Lavender’s delightfully fragrant scent makes it a must-have in any garden. For best results, it should be planted in the late spring once temperatures are consistently warm.
Research what variety will grow well in your climate before purchasing a starter plant at your local nursery. Keep them indoors and water them lightly until you’re ready to plant.
Waiting until mid-May is usually sufficient, but check the weather forecast to ensure all threats of frost are gone before planting. This will give it time to settle before summer.
Lavender requires full sun and well-draining, slightly alkaline soil. Water your plant lightly once a day to help it get established and monitor its growth over the summertime.
