Why Jenn Todryk Recommends This Pricey Shower Floor Upgrade
By LEAH THOMSEN
Knowing when to save versus splurge during your bathroom reno is important. According to HGTV's Jenn Todryk, spending some extra cash on tiles with lots of grout lines is worth it.
Using smaller tiles with more grout lines costs up to $1 more per square foot, which can quickly add up depending on the size of your space, the tile, and the pattern you select.
However, the added texture provides what Todryk calls “natural grippage,” a safety perk important for homes with small children, making the expense worthwhile to the designer.
If extra grout lines are outside your budget, consider using moderately sized matte, slate, or terracotta tiles instead. Each one has natural anti-skid effects for a lower price.
