Why Using Terro Ant Bait Might Be A Bad Idea
By MICHAEL ALEXANDER UCCELLO
Terro ant bait has borax as its primary active ingredient, which kills the entire ant colony when ants carry the bait back to the others. However, it may not be the best solution.
Firstly, while accidental ingestion of borax rarely results in poisoning per the National Capital Poison Center, it can cause nausea and upset stomachs if kids or pets get at it.
Terro traps also often leak, likely due to their design and to their contents expanding and contracting with temperature changes. This reduces the trap's bait and can make a mess.
Plus, the traps make it seem as though the problem is worsening since they attract ants but kill them slower than other products. You’ll have to place them in inconspicuous places.
