Why You Should Add Leftover Grass Clippings To Your Compost Bin

Instead of disposing of your grass clippings after mowing your lawn, collect them in a bag and add them to your compost bin as an excellent source of nitrogen and other nutrients.
Aim for a 50:50 ratio of clippings to brown materials, like branches and leaves, to balance good microbes. Only add dry clippings that haven't been treated in the last two weeks.
A simpler way to compost grass clippings is to leave them on your lawn while you’re mowing. They’ll decompose naturally in a few weeks and nourish your lawn’s soil.

Build the compost pile up to at least 4 square feet in size. Add to the pile in layers, alternating green and brown material until the compost reaches a height of 4 or 5 feet.
