Why You Should Change Your Drapes Before Summer
By ROCHELLE HEATH-HARRIS
Many homeowners opt for heavy or blackout drapes during colder months due to their exceptional heat retention qualities, ensuring a warm and cozy bedroom.
Yet, come summer, using these drapes can inadvertently trap heat and impede air circulation, leading to an uncomfortably warm bedroom and potentially hiking up energy bills.
To combat this issue and minimize solar heat gain, homeowners are advised to switch to lighter window treatments, both in color and weight, as the weather
gets warmer.
Vertical or horizontal blinds, insulated cellular shades, and light-colored curtains with reflective linings are all effective choices for maintaining a cooler interior.
