Why You Should Dab Some Paint On The Can Before Sealing And Storing It
By KATE NICHOLSON
It can be challenging to recall the exact color sitting in your old paint cans or the quantity left from your previous use. However, a simple trick can help resolve this issue.
When you finish painting, dip your paintbrush in the paint one more time and swipe the liquid across the exterior of the can at the level where the remaining paint now rests.
This method swiftly reveals the paint’s color and type — glossy or matte, for example — eliminating the need for a retest and the constant breaking of the seal on your cans.
Ensuring your paint cans are only opened when required is important as it will keep your paint from drying out and halt mold formation by maintaining the paint’s chemical balance.
