Former Home Organization Named For Gilda Radner Is Being Sold For $12.5 Million

If you are a fan of classic "Saturday Night Live," then you might get a little pang in the chest when you see what is for sale in NYC. The Red Door Community — which was formerly known as Gilda's Club — has put up their Greenwich Village office for sale for $12.5 million. The space has been used as a "haven" for those families that have been affected by cancer, according to the Red Door Community, and has been able to offer continued complimentary services for over 25 years.

The organization has had some incredible star-studded support since its founding in 1995, including the likes of Mandy Patinkin, Andrew Garfield, and Emma Stone who was named as the Gida's Club NYC Ambassador back in 2012. Now the property, which is located on 195 West Houston Street, NYC, is up for sale and could be an interesting opportunity for those who would want to use the building as an office or possibly remodel it as a luxurious residential home.

Gilda Radner and details on the Gilda's Club property

Gilda Radner was a comedic force to be reckoned with. During her time on "Saturday Night Live" from 1975 to 1980, she was best known for playing wild and outrageous characters on the sketch comedy show, which made her legendary. Her career was the focus of a Primetime Emmy Award-winning documentary called "Love, Gilda," which included notable comedians such as Bill Hader, Melissa McCarthy, and Amy Poehler, who were inspired by her work. Radner passed away from ovarian cancer in 1989, which inspired her husband, actor Gene Wilder, to form Gilda's Club — later rebranded to Red Door Community — in 1995 to preserve her memory and help others who are dealing with cancer.

Now the original home of Gilda's Club is for sale, and this amazing four-story property is chock-full of opportunities. Its facade has big beautiful windows, and the location is a half-hour drive from La Guardia, JFK, and Newark Airports, according to the listing on LoopNet. The classically bricked building is highly distinguishable with its bright red door, and it is located just outside of the heritage area so it has the potential of being reworked to become a home or kept the way it is as a stunning office building.
