Kendall Jenner's Massive Stone Sink Is The Star Of Her Dark And Moody Powder Room

As a supermodel, reality television star, and member of the Kardashian-Jenner Clan, Kendall Jenner needs no introduction. But while her family name and mega-celebrity status are well-known and highly documented in the media, Kendall in particular has a longstanding reputation for being more introverted and shy than the rest of her famous sisters. Her more understated personality is reflected in her living space, which she designed to feel warm and cozy and to serve as a relaxing space to unwind or hang out with friends and family. "The overall vibe that I was going for was really peaceful," she said in a home tour with Architectural Digest. "I wanted to feel super calm."

Though the A-list celebrity is often photographed with her famous pals, Jenner says her home doesn't see a lot of parties and is instead intended to serve as a place for her to unwind. "My life involves a lot of chaos and travel and high energy, so I wanted a home that feels serene, a place where I can simply zone out and relax," she told Architectural Digest. While her desire for a relaxing and calming home environment is evident throughout her L.A. residence — which she reportedly bought in 2017 for $8.55 million — it's perhaps most evident in her powder room, which features a custom stone sink that helps the space feel like a natural spa with a uniquely old world feel.

The custom stone sink Jenner says she was dying for

"Right off the bar is just a really nice kind of dark, moody powder room," Kendall Jenner said in the Architectural Digest home tour when entering the intimate, dimly-lit space. The powder room reflects Jenner's desire for a zen and cozy living space — while mirroring the understated elegance showcased in the rest of her home that you wouldn't expect of someone with a name so readily associated with overstated wealth.

The beautifully crafted stone sink that Jenner tells Architectural Digest she was "dying for" is highlighted by the room's warm, soft sconce lighting, which helps call attention to the rugged, natural look and feel of the stone. Though the sink blends seamlessly into Jenner's Mediterranean-inspired home, it's special enough to easily be the focal point of the room — something she has no problem with. In fact, Jenner was so insistent on the stone sink that she says she had that part of the house's structure redesigned just to accommodate it. "The guy who did my house basically said it was the hardest part of the entire house, was putting this in. They had to like, try a million times because they had to like, restructure the walls behind it and stuff," she says via the Architectural Digest tour. "This guy is probably never leaving this house," she adds, in reference to her custom sink.

Because of her affiliation with her famous fam — and her sisters in particular, whose personalities are often showcased as being larger than life — Kendall Jenner's refined design tastes and her home's understated, earthy vibe come off as somewhat of a surprise. "Being who she is, we thought Kendall might gravitate toward something more flashy, more va-va-voom," designer Kathleen Clements — who, along with Tommy Clements and Waldo Fernandez, worked with Jenner to design her dream pad — told Architectural Digest. "I think we were all thrilled to discover that she has taste beyond her years." Tommy confirmed, saying, "Her taste was surprising, more bohemian and funky than the rest of her family. The mood she described was totally understated and down-to-earth."

"There are plenty of people we know who have traveled extensively and been exposed to so much but don't absorb anything. Kendall is different," added Fernandez. "She takes everything in and is confident about the things that resonate with her." This is clearly reflected in the design of Jenner's home, which has Spanish influence throughout.

The home's Mediterranean vibe is played up through the use of warm earthy tones, which lend themselves well to the peaceful and calming environment Jenner sought to create for herself. "When I walked into this place, I was immediately drawn to the peaceful Spanish-y, farmhouse-y vibe," Jenner told Architectural Digest. "I like a house that has character."
