Use This Shower Hack To Keep Your Curtain From Falling Off The Hooks
Finding the right shower curtain is a great way to enhance the aesthetic of your bath area as well as the style of the overall room. However, if you opt for the kind of cloth shower curtain that goes outside of the bath or shower, you may notice that it doesn't have the metal or plastic holes — or grommets — that are usually found on plastic shower curtains or shower curtain liners. Instead, your curtain may simply have slots in the fabric where you're meant to feed the hook through. In turn, your shower curtain may slip and fall off of the hooks occasionally, which is more than a little annoying — especially if you're already in the shower — fortunately, there's a super-easy hack that uses a plastic bottle cap to make sure that this doesn't happen again.
In a video shared on TikTok, user @the_gooch takes the bottle cap and uses it to act as a stopper. By placing them on the hooks, the shower curtain isn't able to slip off and stays securely in place. Of course, you can't just toss a bottle cap on the hook. There are a few quick steps that you need to take in order to make this handy hack work for you and your shower curtain.
Use bottle caps to keep your shower curtain in place
To start this hack, you'll need a few plastic bottle caps — the same number as the amount of hooks that you need for your shower curtain. If you don't have that many bottle caps around, then you can use the plastic lids from vitamin bottles or others that are a similar size. You can even buy ones online that people sell for upcycling purposes. You just need them to be big enough to prevent the hook from slipping through the slits in the fabric. You'll also want to wash them out and make sure they're dry before you start.
Next, you'll need to put one hole in each one. Make sure that the hole is in the center of the cap and that it's large enough for the hook to pass through. At the same time, it has to be small enough to grip the hook slightly and not allow it to slide through. When you've made a hole in each cap, all you need to do is slip the caps onto the hooks before you slide the hooks through the fabric. You can then hang the hooks and your shower curtain on the rod as usual, and be confident that it will stay there.
