Upcycle Dollar Tree Organizers For A High-End Vase On A Budget

Whether you're decorating your dining table or looking for a stylish dinner party accent, centerpiece vases are a wonderful addition to anyone's arsenal. However, not all of them are as budget-friendly as we would like them to be. Take long horizontal vases for example, like the Skyjoohy Rectangular Acrylic Vase. This option costs $30, which can be a bit too much for some people's budgets. At the same time, these types of vases are quite enviable, since they can give you anywhere from 2 to 4 feet of table decor. Luckily, you can create something similar for much less if you head to Dollar Tree.

You can DIY a stylish vase using a few Dollar Store finds. Specifically, you will need some of the budget retailer's Home Collection 3-Compartment Clear Plastic Organizers, which can store everything from makeup to pens to paint brushes, and a hot glue gun to create a similar look for a fraction of the cost. You'll just glue the makeup organizers together to create a long rectangle and then fill the vase with flowers. To use these types of vases, cut your blooms short and then stick them into the rectangular holder, allowing the bouquet to run the full length of your dining table. Here is a closer look at not only how to create it, but also how to customize it to fit your specific vision.

How to create a vase with Dollar Tree makeup organizers

To create this vase, first decide how many clear plastic organizers you'll need. They are 5 inches wide, so lining six in a row will give you a 30 inch long vase. In order to make it rectangular and full like the high-end one on Amazon, you will want to add a second row in front of it, which means you will need 12 organizers in total. Since they cost $1.25 each, this will set you back $15 in total. Simply remove the stickers from the organizers and then add hot glue wherever there are joints between them to attach them facing towards one another. And you're done! You can either use this with real flowers (which will require you to fill it with water) or faux ones.

To customize it, you can add color by spray painting it. For example, if you would like something metallic, consider using Rust-Oleum Specialty Metallic Spray in gold. However, if you would prefer to keep it clear, consider customizing it with a table runner. You can bunch fabric around it in your chosen color to accentuate the theme of your decor or dinner party. If you have a modern farmhouse style, consider bunching burlap around it, or if you're using it for a Christmas party, add red velvet fabric around it. If you would like to keep your table a little more minimalist, you can instead tie a thick ribbon around the base in your chosen color, securing it with hot glue at the corners to keep it up.
