The Vintage Cookie Jar Brand To Watch Out For When Thrifting And Why

Cookie jars have become a classic element in home decor, not only because they offer a nostalgic pop of decoration but also because they're useful (especially if you or your family members love to bake or eat cookies.) But, as it turns out, these containers do more than just hold baked goods or look pretty on a shelf — some vintage cookie jars can sell for big money and last families for generations. If you're someone who spends time in thrift or vintage stores, keep an eye out for the Cookie Time cookie jars from the Treasure Craft brand, and you could snag something worth much more than what's on the price tag.

But before we rush into the money side of things, let's talk about what Cookie Time jars have to offer for those who want to hang onto them. The jars are chic and old-timey, and their simple coloring makes them fit in with just about any kitchen aesthetic. Most versions of the Cookie Time jars feature a clock face with green minute and second hands and block letters spelling out Cookie Time. The jars are so visually appealing that one was even a staple in Monica's apartment from the popular TV show "Friends" (as TikTok user Cait Conquers pointed out). After the series ended, actor Matthew Perry (who played Chandler) gifted the jar to his co-star Lisa Kudrow (who played Phoebe).

How much Cookie Time jars sell for

The Cookie Time jar was made by a few different brands, but the iconic version to look out for is from Treasure Craft. Treasure Craft was a famous California pottery company that grew in popularity in the 1940s and churned out pieces up until 1995. The brand had over 200 novelty cookie jar designs, so if you snag this jar or anything else marked with the Treasure Craft logo, you know you're getting some high-quality porcelain work that will likely last your family for generations (read: hundreds of thousands of cookies.) Even if you're just interested in decorating your home with pottery, it's good to keep an eye out for higher-quality items.

Decades after its creation and "Friends" debut, the Cookie Time jar is now one of the most valuable items to seek out at a thrift store. While you can buy a replica of the classic Cookie Time jar on Amazon for about $120, the real thing is still highly coveted and worth watching for. If you end up wanting to sell your find for a profit, you're in luck, too. TikTok creator Kreesky noted that a jar was selling for $350 on eBay, and many of the versions on the site go for even higher. As of this article's publication date, multiple Cookie Time jars were on sale for over $500 on eBay, and one was even $800 with 90 people watching the listing.
