Large mosaic mirrors that take over an entire wall can bring luxury into any home. The issue is, these magnificent mirrors often come with a luxurious price, too. That is, until now. With a few affordable supplies from Dollar Tree, DIY a stunning mosaic mirror accent wall to bring that expensive charm to your home without breaking the bank. The idea is to attach several small rectangular mirrors onto a board to create a larger mosaic mirror. This hack is a fantastic way to upcycle small plain mirrors to get the look of a large and expensive one.
To complete this hack, you'll need to purchase 8 by 10 inch Rectangular Beveled Mirrors from Dollar Tree. The original hack requires nine of these for a total of $11.25 and a poster board to use as backing, like the Black Poster Board from Dollar Tree. The poster board must be large enough to cover all of the mirrors you've purchased. In addition, this DIY requires super glue, a hot glue gun, and some duct tape.
There are many ways to customize this hack, so you can make it work for any space. For example, use more or less than nine mirrors to make your accent piece bigger or smaller. Then, simply adapt the foam board by either cutting it smaller or using more than one. Once completed, this would be a great art piece for an entryway or dining room.
How to DIY a luxurious mosaic mirror
To begin, lay the mirrors next to each other, face down, on a table. Use both super glue and hot glue to secure them together at the seams. Then, place duct tape over all of the seams, and add a few extra strips across to secure it nicely. With hot glue, attach the poster board to the back of the mirrors, and let it dry. After the glue has hardened, you can gently lift up your new mosaic mirror and place it on a wall. To attach it, place Command Strips on all corners and in the middle of the mirror both horizontally and vertically (ensuring they can hold the weight of the piece). You can also let your new DIY mirror rest on top of a credenza or dresser instead of attaching it to the wall if you'd prefer not to deal with potential wall damage from Command Strips.
While this Dollar Tree DIY wall mirror looks luxe, there is one caveat. Mirrors are heavy and can easily break if they fall, which makes the whole DIY a bit precarious. Though the mirror frames are plastic, they might still be a bit heavy. A more lightweight and durable version of this hack is to buy silver photo frames from Dollar Tree instead. Then, instead of filling the frames with pictures, use Bbto self adhesive mirror stickers. These are a lot lighter than true mirrors but look nearly the same. While this is not as luxurious as using real mirrors, it will last a while and be easy to move around if needed.
