Can You Buy Cracker Barrel's Antiques To Put In Your House?

If you love antiques and the feeling of fantastic thrift store finds, then you probably love the inside of a Cracker Barrel. The homey restaurant chain isn't just famous for its comfort food like pancakes and country fried steak — it's also known for its one-of-a-kind décor. From old-timey signs to crackling stone fireplaces to handcrafted wooden rocking chairs, Cracker Barrel locations are filled with what look like treasured antique items that would fit right in at your grandma's house.

It's no wonder then that you might want to bring a little of grandma's charm to your own home by buying Cracker Barrel antiques for your home. After all, you should never underestimate the power of adding antiques to a room. However, while the chain does have in-person and online stores that sell fun home décor ranging from festive holiday decorations to kitschy salt and pepper shakers, Cracker Barrel doesn't typically sell the antiques that are displayed in their restaurants.

Buying decor from Cracker Barrel

Cracker Barrel is incredibly intentional about all of the design elements inside its restaurants. The founder of the store, Dan Evins, reached out to local antique store owners when he opened the first location in Tennessee back in 1969. Up until 2019, those same antiquers, Dan and Kathleen Singleton, and later their son Larry, played a role in picking the authentic items that brought a special character to all of Cracker Barrel's hundreds of locations. Since these restaurants are scattered across the country, the Singletons, and later the Cracker Barrel design team, research the history of each new location and reach out to nearby experts and dealers to ensure every location has its own local flair. This explains why it's tough to make the items available to a wider audience — they're unique pieces picked specifically for the restaurants rather than mass produced products.

With that said, there has been a sell-off in the past, though. As the company undergoes a larger design shift, one location in Tennessee sold off some of the pieces it wasn't using anymore in a yard sale-esque event. The response was overwhelming — with all the items selling out in just 30 minutes. There's no official word as to whether Cracker Barrel plans on making these sales a regular occurrence during their remodeling campaign, but if you are into the comfort decorating trend you should keep your eyes peeled for another yard sale event.
