DIY The Cutest Faux Lemon Tree Decor With Some Dollar Tree Supplies

Dollar Tree is right up there with Michaels and Walmart when it comes to craft supplies, especially when you want to make cute DIY projects on a budget. From DIYing your own craft storage solution for yarn to repurposing small wood crates into affordable decor storage, there are endless ways to use Dollar Tree products to create adorable, and often versatile, crafts that work for decorating, organizing, or both. And while you might not expect it, you can even make a cute faux lemon tree using some Dollar Tree supplies instead of shelling out anywhere from $30 to $260 for one.

Here's what you'll need to create your faux lemon tree using Dollar Tree supplies: a plunger, hot glue, light green faux tree leaves with stems (ideally ones that resemble lemon tree leaves), faux lemons with stems, a roll of burlap, floral garden moss, zip ties, a container, and some stones. Once you've got everything, you're ready to craft a lemon tree that makes the perfect entryway piece to make it more inviting, corner table centerpiece, or stylish accent to stand near a side table.

Creating a faux lemon tree with mostly Dollar Tree finds

To create a faux lemon tree using Dollar Tree products, you'll start with the plunger as the trunk. Hot glue the bottom half of the leafy stems to the end of the plunger handle, positioning the branches how you want them to look. From there, continue gluing, alternating between the faux lemons with leaves and the plain leafy stems, working your way around until the tree looks full. Once all the greenery is glued, secure the stems with two or three zip ties.

Next, wrap burlap around the stems and zip ties, continuing until you reach the bottom of the plunger. Flip the rubber plunger cup inside out and push it into a small bucket, planter, or other container. Add a few stones to weigh it down, tuck in some extra burlap to fill the space, and finish it with floral garden moss hot glued to the burlap. And if you want your faux plant to look even more realistic, a few extra details can go a long way.

If you can't track down the lemon leaves and stems at Dollar Tree, check out Michaels, Amazon, or even Walmart for similar options. When choosing a container, double-check that it can fit a standard toilet plunger with a 6-inch diameter. For the burlap, any size roll works as long as there's enough to wrap the plunger and fill the sides. You could also use brown fabric, rope, or other similar materials to wrap the trunk. And if lemons aren't your vibe, feel free to use peaches or apples instead. You can even adapt this craft for the seasons with evergreen boughs and holly in the winter or fall leaves with spooky accents in autumn.
