This Affordable Dollar Tree Solution Is A Clever Way To House All Your Remotes

If you're struggling to contend with a growing number of remotes scattered all around your home, it's time to get crafting. There are several stylish DIY solutions to organize remotes, and many cost just a few bucks, from upcycling tissue boxes to reusing old mason jars. However, one of our favorites is a seriously simple hack that requires only one item from Dollar Tree: an Essentials Clear Plastic Stackable Organizing Drawer (just $1.50).

Temporarily remove the inside drawer and attach a long strip of clear two-sided tape on top of the see-through box, making sure it runs vertically down the middle from end to end for maximum hold. Now, the box is ready to stick to the underside of a coffee table, nearby shelf, or cabinet, creating handy hanging storage in just a few seconds. Once it's attached, pop the remotes directly into the box, or place them in the drawer and slide them in, ensuring they're always within easy reach.

Alternatively, you can create vertical hanging storage with the same clear box. Remove the drawer and place it aside, as you won't be needing it for this version of the DIY. This time, use two pieces of clear two-sided tape, each running the full horizontal length of the box, at the top and the bottom. With the drawer opening facing upward, attach the box to a wall or the side of a shelf, and slide all of your loose remotes inside.

How to customize your DIY remote storage

While this DIY is a sleek storage solution as is, there are of course ways to make this cheap Dollar Tree decor look expensive. If you plan to hide your remotes on the underside of a table or shelf, this extra step may not be necessary, but if you prefer the vertical option and are planning to place your DIY organizer in full view, you can make it much more stylish. One simple solution is to use white Elmer's glue to wrap the outside of the box with a pretty fabric or patterned craft book paper. When doing this, just make sure to leave the side that will have the tape exposed.

Other fun customizations include decorating your DIY with stickers, decals, or patterned duct tape. If you're feeling extra bold, you can even get creative with glitter. Use a thin marker to draw a design or write a word on the outside wall of the container, and then trace it with hot glue. Before the glue dries, sprinkle a generous amount of glitter on top, shaking off any excess. And if you find that one piece of storage simply isn't enough for all of your remotes, remember that Dollar Tree is full of potential solutions. For example, you can also house your remotes inside a Dollar Tree napkin holder that doubles as a carrying case!
