If you're looking for a smart way to declutter your home without having to sacrifice an inch of counter space, you'll love this simple and budget-friendly DIY. It uses inexpensive Dollar Tree items to create a vertical organizer that can be used throughout the house. With just a baking pan and a few magnets, you can create a designated storage spot for lightweight items that otherwise clutter counter space or tables.

The idea is to add Dollar Tree magnets, using a bit of glue, to the items you want to store. Every time you need something, just pull it off the metal board before placing it back. This can be a great way to declutter your bathroom by storing small makeup and skincare items vertically. You can also use it in the kitchen, or even upgrade the DIY by using some Sanvcomy magnetic spice tins to make it into a spice rack.

All you'll need is a baking sheet from Dollar Tree, or if you prefer, repurpose a baking sheet you already own. You'll need a couple of Command Strips to secure the baking sheet to the inside of a cabinet or wall. To make this DIY look a bit more elevated, grab a roll of Con-Tact self-adhesive paper from Dollar Tree to cover the metal tray. And finally, you'll also need some adhesive, like a hot glue gun or Y'allCanDiy super glue for plastic. As you'll see, this DIY requires applying glue directly onto your items, so make sure not to use it on any products you don't want to damage.

How to DIY a vertical organizer with a baking sheet

To complete this project, start by cutting a section of contact paper to cover the baking pan. Contact paper is a great way to liven up your space, even inside cupboards. To avoid air bubbles and wrinkles, wipe down the metal before applying and make sure to move slowly. Once you're done, place two command strips on the back of the baking sheet to secure it where you've decided to place the organizer, like on a wall or in a cabinet.

Next, choose which items you'd like to take off your counter and store on this vertical organizer. This hack works especially well with lighter items, like makeup palettes. All you need to do is add a magnet to the back of all of these items with a dab of glue, let it dry, and place it on the metal sheet. In the bedroom or office, you can also use loose magnets to hold pieces of paper or add magnetic hooks to hang keys. To store heavier or bulkier items in this DIY organizer, look in the office and school aisles of Dollar Tree for magnetic pen holders or locker box pockets. These can attach directly to the baking pan and help organize makeup brushes, cutlery, or pens, for example.

This clever way to declutter and keep things organized can work wonders throughout the house, including in your home office, kitchen, or garage. Use this hack to attach anything that's light enough to be held by a magnet, like notes, rulers, or small remotes.
