Why You Should Be Using Your Vacuum To Clean Greasy Kitchen Cabinets

There are lots of reasons why kitchen cabinets can become greasy. You may have had a spill and forgotten to wipe it up properly, or jars and condiments can become sticky over time and leak onto the interior of your cupboards. There's no shame in greasy cabinets, however, you should clean them fairly frequently to stop as much grease and grime building up as possible.

A vacuum probably isn't the first tool you'd think of to clean grease — especially from upper cabinets. However, going straight in with a spray cleaner and a cloth can leave you feeling frustrated, as the loose particles of dust and dirt will get trapped in the air and simply fall back down onto your cupboards. A vacuum with a bristled attachment should be your first step to degreasing kitchen cabinets because it will help fully dislodge any dust or dirt that might be present. A narrow vacuum head ensures that you'll be able to get into every corner of your cabinet with ease.

How to clean kitchen cabinets with a vacuum

Begin cleaning your kitchen cabinets by removing all of the items inside. Rather than doing all of your kitchen cupboards at once, we'd recommend tackling one at a time, so your kitchen counter doesn't become cluttered and the task doesn't become too overwhelming. Next, go in with your vacuum. Whether you have a plug-in or handheld vacuum, it's best to use a specialized attachment. A crevice attachment is great, as it very narrow and can get into the hard to reach areas properly. Similarly, a bristled head attachment is also a good option, as all of the dirt will easily get picked up by the bristles.

Continue to wipe down your cabinets using a formula that you prefer. If your kitchen cabinets are a little bit greasy, then a mild dish soap mixed with warm soapy water should do the trick. For something a bit stronger, mix vinegar with water and apply with a spray bottle. If your cabinets are very greasy, mix water with 1 to 2 teaspoons of baking soda to form a paste, and apply onto the problem areas before wiping away with a clean cloth.

If your cabinets seem perpetually greasy, you may wonder if you are cleaning your kitchen cabinets often enough. Well, it's recommended that you clean the inside of your kitchen cabinets every two to three months to stop the build up of grease and grime. Vacuuming them out more regularly will help reduce the problem.
