The Budget-Friendly Stores David Bromstad Swears By (And Shops For His Own Home)

Whether shopping online for the latest interior design trends or perusing local home decor shops, you might catch yourself wincing at the price tags of some of your favorite pieces. Thankfully, David Bromstad has some relatable advice for finding budget-friendly interior decor, and much of it has to do with where you shop. During a chat with HGTV, the designer shared that when sourcing the perfect pieces for your home, you don't have to resort to high-end stores that drain your wallet. Instead, affordable locations can be just as fulfilling. As Bromstad explained, "I shop at Target a lot," to give one example of a place to score budget-friendly home decor. "I only shop at affordable places," he added.

There are plenty of amazing stores selling dupes of luxury products that are still high-quality and gorgeous. From retailers like Wayfair to IKEA, you can source all kinds of designer-like items to add to your home. While not every item will be a perfect match (like the stylish Aldi shower caddy that's a perfect Pottery Barn dupe for a fraction of the price), you could always DIY or enhance a budget-friendly piece to get as close to the real thing as possible. Of course, there is one decor item David Bromstad always splurges on, and that is the couch. Though, it's possible that you might be able to score a good deal at an affordable retailer on this, too.

Budget-friendly stores where you can shop designer looks

As mentioned, Target is one of the affordable stores that Bromstad frequents for stunning home decor. With notable brands like Hearth & Home by Magnolia, Threshold with Studio McGee, and Opalhouse with Jungalow, there are plenty of designer-approved pieces that are a fraction of the cost of other high-end retailers. In the interview with Bromstad, HGTV also noted that HomeGoods and T.J. Maxx are other affordable stores to add to your budget-friendly list that Bromstad would approve of. Of course, many designers and homeowners have also found incredible dupes at Walmart and IKEA, with both of these stores boasting low prices for some great finds.

Another way you could save money when searching for the perfect item is to scope out online sales. Product listings online could have better deals than those found in-store. Places like Target utilize this kind of pricing. In an interview with The List, David Bromstad shared, "I buy almost exclusively online." While doing so could save money, Bromstad says the real reason he does so is to avoid overwhelm when shopping. For those with stricter budgets, thrifting is also a great choice. In a TikTok video from HGTV, Bromstad shared a fashion tip that could easily translate to home decor. He said, "Everything I wear is like a dollar. I just make it look expensive." The same motto could be applied to home decor for those with a keen eye or who are a tad crafty.
