The Easy No-Sew Solution That Gives Cottagecore And Privacy To Your HAVSTA Cabinet

Thankfully, there is a way to provide privacy for the upper cabinets. This hack involves installing curtains on the inside of the cabinet windows. If you are concerned about getting in over your head with a complicated sewing and curtain installation project, don't be. There is no sewing at all involved in this HAVSTA upgrade. All you need is some fabric, wooden dowels, cable clips, brackets, iron-on hem tape, an iron, and a screwdriver. 

When you are finished with this no-sew curtain project, you will have taken the look of your HAVSTA from plain to something high-end and cottagecore. Since you will be making the curtains yourself, you can customize the look to suit your preferences. There are also some other easy changes you can make to your HAVSTA to complement your new curtains and take the furniture piece to the next level.

To start this project, select the fabric you want to use and then measure it to fit over the cabinet windows. When measuring the fabric, leave a few inches on the top and bottom of each curtain panel. These extra lengths of fabric will loop over the dowels. When the panels are cut, lay them face down. Iron the strips of hem tape at the top and bottom of the panels. Remove the backing from the hem tape, and fold the extra lengths of fabric inward to create the dowel loop. Now, iron the folded lengths of fabric onto the hem tape to secure them together.

When installing the cable clips, you have a choice of doing so either inside the cabinet door or outside. If you hang the curtains inside the door, you have the benefit of any frayed fabric edges being hidden, though. Secure the cable clips to the corners around the cabinet windows using a screwdriver. Thread a dowel through each curtain loop and hang the curtains. You now have a custom-looking furniture piece that adds a touch of charm to your space. To bring a little bit more of the cottagecore feel to your HAVSTA, you can use wood glue to add decorative trim to create a lip at the top of the unit.
