DIY A Glittery Faux Plant That Adds Sparkle To Your Space
Would you love to fill your dwelling with greenery, but fear you might end up turning any plant into compost? Finding easy houseplants anyone can keep alive to decorate your home with can be one way to nurture your green thumb. Likewise, purchasing beginner-friendly succulents to grow indoors is also a viable option for those who want to introduce plants into their interior decor. If you don't have the time to care for a living plant, you could consider faux foliage — though it doesn't have to be those cheap plastic versions you buy from the store. If you love to craft, why not create a DIY glittery faux plant with greenery made entirely out of beads? It's a fun floral addition to your home that will never require repotting or watering.
This sparkly handmade project requires quite a few materials, but the end result is worth it — a unique, twinkly imitation houseplant guaranteed to grab the attention of any visitor. You'll need a lot of green beads and a handful of rainbow or patterned beads (if you want to add some color or texture to your floral arrangement). Get, too, a roll of 26-gauge wire, wire cutters, a hot glue gun, some pieces of styrofoam, and, lastly, a cute pot for your plant to shine in. If the planter is on the big side, get some scrap fabric or polyfill to pack into the empty spaces between the styrofoam. Find a cozy spot to spread out your supplies in, and let inspiration and imagination take over as you craft your new plant.
How to create your glittery faux plant
Prepare your pot and base for your glitter plant by putting styrofoam in it, filling any gaps with scrap fabric or polyfill. For the plant, cut varying lengths of wire — which will serve as your vines and leaves — and thread green beads onto it until you reach the end of the strand. Secure the last bead, add a drop of hot glue, and stick it into the styrofoam in your planter. Repeat the process until the planter is full.

Change up your glittery garden by shaping some of the wire strands into leaves or flowers replete with petals (use sturdier wire) prior to stringing beads onto them. You can also swap out more of the green beads for colored beads. Iridescent beads and Crafters Square Glass Beads can be used to add more shimmer. If you want a more muted and neutral faux plant, use polymer clay beads or Crafters Square Wood Beads.
After all your glittery foliage is complete, your next challenge (on top of stopping yourself from making more) is figuring out where to put your fake plant to make it worth its while. To get the most out of your sparkly new home decor item, consider hanging it near a window so the sunlight can reflect off of and shine through its translucent vines. You can also place your creation on a bookshelf or tabletop to add a pinch of pizazz to any space.
