What To Know About The Bathroom Appliance That's Being Recalled For Fire Risks
In recent years, beauty and skincare enthusiasts have been embracing a rising trend that puts an unexpected appliance in the bathroom. For anyone with the space to hold them, bathroom mini fridges offer a ton of benefits. These compact appliances, often referred to as beauty fridges, are used to store skincare products, including serums, face masks, beauty creams, and even medications. The idea is for these beauty solutions to provide soothing relief during application. Additionally, keeping them in cool temperatures can guarantee that they last longer, as in the case of vitamin C serums.
However, we learned recently that even this tiny bathroom appliance could become another of those scary dangers lurking around the home after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall. In particular, the recall is for the Paris Hilton Mini Beauty Fridges, which, according to the manufacturer, Epoca International, has an electrical switch that can short-circuit, overheat, and even catch fire, based on complaints from consumers who bought a unit. To date, the manufacturer has received at least 27 incident reports. While no injuries have been reported thus far, some customers have described damage to their unit and surrounding surfaces.
The recall affects more than 110,000 units, sold in 4-liter and 10-liter models that came in pink, white, aqua, and hot pink color options. They were sold online at Walmart, Amazon, and through other retailers, as well as in-store at Walmart and Ross between November 2022 and July 2025. Since they were marketed for use in the bathroom, where flammable items like towels and toiletries are kept, the CPSC is urging owners to surrender their units.
Is your mini beauty fridge affected by the recall?
One of the many ways to help protect your home against fires is to get rid of items with fire-causing potential. In the case of the Paris Hilton Mini Beauty Fridge, it's important to note that only those manufactured before August 2024 are affected. If you purchased a unit made after this period, it is presumed safe and will not qualify for a manufacturer's refund.
To find out if your unit is covered by the recall, look for the model and serial number of your unit. They are typically found on the back of the 4-liter model and on the bottom of the 10-liter model. The affected models include numbers PH11887, PH11887-1, PZB02-E001, PH12540, PZP01-E001, and PZW01-E001. Serial numbers begin with 2024, 202206–202406, and 202206–20240704020. If your fridge matches any of these details, it is part of the recall.
The CPSC advises owners of the affected mini fridges to unplug them. Then, they should register for the recall on Epoca's website. To qualify for the refund, owners are required to submit three photographs. One should show their unit with "RECALL" written across its door using a permanent marker. The next should clearly display the model and serial number tag, and the last image should show their fridge's cord cut into pieces. A card with your name and contact info should also be visible in each picture. It's not immediately clear how refunds for the $30 4-liter and $60 10-liter models will be disbursed.
