Aldi's New Kitchen Tools Look Way More Expensive Than They Really Are

Everyone loves a deal; that thrill that comes from finding a good product on discount is unmatched. The problem is that you may often think you've scored a great bargain, only to discover it doesn't hold up to the same quality or standards as the more expensive piece. It can be challenging to find a quality product that delivers value while also being affordable. Luckily, Aldi has been well-known for their affordable prices in areas like home decor, food, and even kitchen utensils. The retail giant has recently launched three new kitchen utensils, including garlic presses, can openers, and peelers — all resourceful tools we often reach for when cooking and baking. And much to our surprise, these Crofton Acacia Utensils look like a copycat version of Oxo or Crate & Barrel kitchen items, appearing more expensive than they actually are.

Many people seek out kitchen gadgets that end up being a waste of money. If you're looking to grow your collection, a well-known brand that many home cooks enjoy is Oxo. Not only are their utensils high in quality standards, but many of their tools also feature ergonomic handles that make them easier to use. The same goes for Crate & Barrel, which is known for its durable, professional-grade kitchen utensils. The only catch is that those well-reviewed tools often come with a hefty price tag, but that's where Aldi steps in with budget-friendly alternatives.

Comparing the three utensils: garlic press, can opener, and large peeler

Each of Aldi's utensils is only $4.99, a far cry from their look-alikes and any kitchen appliance packages. You can get all three in black or sage green. Plus, they feature soft gripper handles for ease of use and can fit safely in the top of your dishwasher for cleaning. Starting with the Crofton Garlic Press, it looks very similar to the Oxo Good Grips Garlic Press at $20.99 and the Crate & Barrel Soft-Touch Garlic Press, priced much higher at $39.95. While there aren't any reviews out yet on the product, it seems to work just as well, and the design isn't new.

Next, we have the Crofton Can Opener, which looks just like the Crate & Barrel version at $22.95 and the Oxo version at $19.99. In an Aldi Facebook group, one buyer said she felt she was wasting money on cheaper can openers, but this one from Aldi "is fantastic!" The same group also posted about the Crofton Large Peeler, noting the ease of use, nice weight, and peeling abilities. Again, it looks almost exactly like Crate & Barrel's peeler, which is listed for $19.95, and Oxo's, at $13.99. If you're looking for a deal on some essential kitchen tools, it seems that the Crofton brand at Aldi may be worth a try, given the significant price difference.
