Make Your Own Fun Pumpkin Wall Art With A Budget-Friendly DIY
Have you seen the viral ghost painting from Michael's that looks like a group of ghosts staring out from a black background? Since that textured painting went viral, people have been recreating it for themselves at home. If you want to create stunning wall art on a budget that's perfect for the season, we have a new take on that painting thanks to Michelle's Art on TikTok. Instead of painting textured ghosts, the creator shows us how we can use the same technique to create a grouping of pumpkins.
Like the original ghost painting, all of the pumpkins are grouped together on a black background. Each one has its own facial expression, adding a touch of whimsy and fun to the overall look. Not only can you use this budget-friendly DIY to make your own fun pumpkin wall art, but you can also use the same process to create other Halloween-themed pieces, such as the viral ghosts or even a piece that depicts tombstones.
Putting together this wall art is relatively easy with just a few supplies, some of which you can even pick up at the dollar store. To make your own pumpkin wall art, you'll want a small canvas, fast-dry spackle, a brush, a piece of cardboard, and orange, black, and brown paint. Considering the background of this print is black, you'll either want to try to find a canvas that is already black, or you can grab a white one and then cover it with black paint. Let the paint dry completely, and you're ready to dive into the fun part.
How create your own pumpkin wall art
If you've already discovered a few fun and creative ways to decorate with pumpkins, you're going to love making this piece, which will level up your Halloween display. To make this cute pumpkin decor for your wall, you'll want to start by taking your piece of cardboard and cutting out a small section that's shaped like a half oval. On a paper plate, mix the spackle with the orange paint. Once your paint and spackle are fully mixed, use your cardboard cut-out like a putty knife and apply your orange spackle in circles or half-circles on your canvas. Each circle will be placed next to the others, starting about halfway down the canvas, to leave a dark sky above your pumpkins.
Once you have your first line of orange circles, you'll want to place your next line of circles directly underneath, with some layered over the upper shapes. You'll then follow this step all the way to the bottom of the canvas. As you layer your pumpkins, you will want to do different sizes and variations on the shape to make it look more like a group of scary pumpkins all huddled together. Once the spackle dries, use brown paint to add small stems to your pumpkins. Then, taking your black paint, you can create different expressions to turn those pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns. As an alternative, you can use colored markers for the details, as long as you wait for the spackle to dry completely. After everything dries, you'll be left with a textured piece of wall art that actually looks high-end, similar to the original inspiration.
