Home Depot Shoppers Are Loving This Highly-Rated Riding Lawn Mower Brand

Home Depot offers a wide range of riding lawn mowers from well-known names like Cub Cadet, John Deere, Murray (owned by Briggs & Stratton), Ryobi, Toro, and Troy-Bilt. In one independent survey, John Deere was rated as the most popular lawn mower brand in the US, and Ryobi is among the leaders in battery-powered machines. However, the highly rated range of riding mowers that are getting big love from Home Depot shoppers right now is Troy-Bilt.

Troy-Bilt offers an extensive selection of lawn mowers, from a compact 20-inch walk-behind model that many still consider the best type of lawn mower for a small yard, to a high-performance 54-inch zero-turn machine designed for those with big acreages. It's the latter that Home Depot shoppers seem particularly keen on. While Troy-Bilt's traditional Pony and Bronco ride-on models get mixed reviews, those for the powerful Mustang range are among the best on the site.

The smallest of the Mustang ride-on mowers is a 42-inch model with a durable 547cc single-cylinder engine. The larger machines (there are five in all) have impressive 725cc or 747cc twin-cylinder power. All benefit from hydrostatic drive for super-smooth speed changes. Customers give the 50-inch model a rating of 4.3, while the others get 4.6. The vast majority would be happy to recommend them.

Shoppers are impressed with Troy-Bilt riding lawn mowers

There are two Troy-Bilt 42-inch zero-turn riding mowers available, one of which is new for 2025, so there aren't enough ratings yet to get balanced feedback from Home Depot shoppers. The other has received almost 450 ratings, with buyers noting it performs well, cuts efficiently, and saves time. One thought it was "a wonderful addition" to their lawn equipment. Another shopper who had not owned a zero-turn mower before was "thoroughly impressed with the performance and ease of use."

It's a similar story across the range. The 46-inch model was thought to give a "very fast and really smooth, even cut." A customer who chose the 54-inch version said, "Wow! By far the best mowing machine I have ever owned," and went on to say that their previous models had included John Deere and Cub Cadet. There aren't many complaints, although a few people had problems with starting. Troy-Bilt's three-year warranty on Mustang models should resolve most of these issues.

There are a few things to know before buying a zero-turn lawn mower, and it's a tremendously competitive market, so it's worth shopping around. That said, the Troy-Bilt Mustang range is competitively priced, and if Home Depot shoppers are anything to go by, certainly worth a closer look.
