Under Cabinet Lighting Doesn't Have To Break The Bank With A Dollar Tree Diy

We spend a lot of time in our kitchens, between cooking meals and visiting with loved ones. So naturally, finding beautiful ways to light them up can make a big difference. That's where under-cabinet lighting comes in. It's perfect for brightening dark spaces and it can help elevate the mood. Plus, its focused design helps with completing tasks around the kitchen. But who says adding lights under your cabinets has to be pricey? One clever DIY uses items from Dollar Tree to create this type of lighting, and the results are gorgeous.

You can have under-cabinet lights in no time, which are also great for making a small kitchen look and feel more spacious. You'll need to grab a few of Dollar Tree's Self-Adhesive LED Push Lights. The lights cost only $1.50 each, but do require three AAA batteries as well. How many you'll need depends on how much area you'd like to cover. Many people have simply been sticking them to the bottoms of their cabinets in order to illuminate their countertops.

While there's no denying it gets the job done, you can take under cabinet lighting to the next level with an additional Dollar Tree item. By combining the puck-style light with one of their bowls, it can look like an actual stylish fixture. For example, you can use the Clear Plastic Fluted Serving Bowl from Dollar Tree, or their Crystal Cut Plastic Punch Bowl. You'll also need a few basic supplies like frosted glass spray paint, glue, and Command Strips.

Create a luxurious-looking cabinet light with Dollar Tree LED push lights and a bowl

Begin by misting your bowl with the frosted glass spray paint. You could also use black if you prefer a modern, chic look. Once dry, add batteries to your push light and attach it to the inside center of the bowl. For an added enhancement, you can create a base for the light using a round object like a mint container. Paint it a classic fixture color like gold or silver, then glue it to the outside bottom of the bowl. Finally, attach it beneath your cabinet using a Command Strip or two. Push the light and it will beautifully brighten up the countertop, and also help add warmth to your kitchen.

This type of lighting doesn't have to stay confined to the heart of the home. You can create these convenient lights for other places you have cabinets — whether it be in the garage, bathroom, or laundry room. However, you may want to consider using smaller plastic bowls if needed to match the space. For a little added fun, Dollar Tree also sells bowls in other colors like ruby red, or this Light Blue Wavy Plastic Bowl. Use several along the bottom of your cabinets or just one in the corner to make it glow. You may wonder why you've been in the dark so long with this wonderful lighting solution.
