There's something unexplainably exciting about shopping at membership-only warehouse clubs like Costco — the experience just feels different. After all, you're literally shopping in a massive warehouse. But what really sets Costco apart isn't just the ability to stretch your dollar on affordable dinnerware, food, and even garden supplies, or stock up on household staples for the month to save your wallet – it's the endless samples. Because who doesn't love free stuff, even if it's just half of a single fruit and nut granola bar or a sliver of a pizza Hot Pocket? It's free, and if you go on the right day (some shoppers suggest going Thursday through Sunday), you can skip lunch at home and fill up while you shop — although you'll probably still want to stop at the food court afterward.

Lately, though, Costco has really been stealing the spotlight from other big retailers with the out-of-the-ordinary samples it's handing out, including, believe it or not, entire rolls of toilet paper. Several shoppers have taken to TikTok and other social platforms to share the news, each walking out of the store with a full roll of TP in hand (because anything less would just be weird).

It's true: Costco is handing out full rolls of toilet paper as samples at select stores, and shoppers couldn't be happier about it. "I have never been so irrationally thrilled over a freebie in my life. Don't judge me — TP inflation is real," @drtheresaspeaks wrote on TikTok. Many were just as surprised as they were excited, because it's not every day a store hands out entire rolls of toilet paper. The rolls being given out are Costco's own Kirkland-brand toilet paper, specifically, the Kirkland Signature Ultra Soft Premium Bath Tissue. According to signs displayed on the sample table, a 36-roll pack (231 sheets each) sells for $21.99, which breaks down to about $0.64 per roll — prices may vary slightly between warehouses.

Costco "Samplers" have been placing single rolls inside zipper freezer bags for sanitation purposes (but you can think of it as another freebie) and setting them out on their sample tables for shoppers to grab. So, how can you snag one? Well, TikTok posts suggest the membership-only warehouse club has been giving them out since May 2025, and the free TP train hasn't stopped. Shoppers reported having taken home a sample on social media as recently as October 23, 2025. So yes, there's still a pretty good chance your local Costco might be handing out rolls of toilet paper, but it's difficult to tell which stores will be participating.
