Vases have been used for thousands of years, dating back to ancient China and Egypt, where they served both practical and decorative purposes. Revered as art forms, these vessels often depicted the stories of gods, heroes, and everyday life — and were sometimes even buried with their owners to symbolize wealth and dignity. In the modern home, they do much more than just hold flower arrangements — they also serve as luxurious candleholders. Perfect the art of styling vases in the home, and you'll impart extra elegance in your space and create eye-catching focal points. And while many antique vases are literally priceless, you can introduce extravagant beauty to your home on a modest budget: Simply make a high-end DIY candle holder with this Dollar Tree craft. Stack and glue a few round glass vases into a tall pillar, then add a candle for a warm, almost royal ambiance. If the pharaohs only knew!

The best part about this DIY is that, unlike in ancient times, there's no need to become a master craftsperson to create a vase that will wow your guests. Incredibly, all you'll need for this project are a few Greenbrier International Bubble Ball Vases from Dollar Tree, a strong adhesive, gold spray paint, and something to give the candle holder a low center of gravity — such as this Hygloss Sand For Crafts or a few of these Poplay Marbles. Once your craft is complete, you'll have a tall and elegant vase candle holder that will cast a golden glow in your space, whether you place it in your home's entryway, on a coffee table, or on the fireplace mantle.

Make a unique candle holder with Dollar Tree vases

Gather your vases — three are ideal for a short holder, while five work well for a tall one. Spray paint them gold, silver, or a color of your choice. Once the paint is dry, place the first vase upright on a flat surface and fill it with sand or marbles for extra stability. Apply adhesive, such as Original Gorilla Glue, around the rim, then press the second jar — also facing up — on top, so the bottom of the second jar adheres to the top of the first. Repeat until all the jars are stacked. Let the glue cure for 24 hours.

Not into gold? Instead of painting the vases a sunny hue, adhere these Shynek Pearl Stickers to them, and then spray-paint it all white before assembling the DIY candle holder for a hobnail, milk glass look. Or, paste the flat side of clear glass accent gems on each of the vases and spray them black before assembling them to create a uniquely modern candle holder. Finally, for extra glitz and glam, skip the spray paint entirely and cover your entire craft with mirror mosaic tiles, such as these from the Geiserailie Self-Adhesive Tiles, to reflect light throughout your home.

Once your creation is complete, insert a candle of your choice, such as a battery-operated tea light or a scented wax candle, in the top section to fill your room with a warm glow or fragrance. If you're using a real flame candle, make your DIY candle holder is sturdy enough and that it's not easy to accidentally knock it over.
