Turn Any Tea Towel Into A Stylish Bread Basket With This Easy Hack

The only thing more charming than serving freshly baked bread in a fabric bread basket is when that basket is actually a DIY creation itself. Over on the creative side of TikTok, one creator showed off their clever method of folding a tea towel into a fully structured and deep bread basket that can hold loaves of bread, pastries, and bagels as part of creating the perfect entertainment space for hosting.

To make the basket, first lay a sturdy tea towel flat on a surface and fold it in half lengthwise, then fold the bottom third of the towel up toward the middle. Then, take each of the bottom corners of this newly folded section and fold them inward to meet in the center, which will create a small rectangular flap across the lower section. Next, fold the top half of the towel down over everything so it covers those folds completely, and flip the towel around to repeat the same process on the other side, folding the new lower corners in toward the middle to create another flap. From there, you pull the rectangular panel outwards on both sides to form depth before turning the whole thing inside out on itself; the layers will fold into place and create a soft and structured basket shape that's surprisingly sturdy.

If you've ever lined a bread basket with a tea towel, as many do, this method feels like a way more clever upgrade. You can probably try it with any towel that fits your home vibe — crisp linen if you're minimal, patterned cotton if you love that cozy cottage look, or a bold print if you're looking for a pop of personality.
