DIYer Shows How To Turn Dollar Tree $2 Punch Bowls Into Large Christmas Decor
Christmas is the time of year when we're surrounded by an abundance of treats. Between chocolate Santas, candy canes, and gingerbread men, it's hard not to get a sweet tooth during the wintry season. For 95% of respondents in a National Confectioners Association survey, candy and chocolate play a role in celebrating the winter holidays. But did you know that you can deck the halls with it, too? One creative Christmas decoration involves crafting a giant piece of candy out of Dollar Tree items. It's adorably festive and is sure to brighten some people's spirits.
The DIYer from the popular TikTok channel @bargain.bethany shared how to make these mouthwatering candy pieces. Each one requires four plastic bowls from Dollar Tree, which are priced at $2.00 each. For starters, you'll need two Crystal Cut Plastic Punch Bowls and two Clear Plastic Fluted Serving Bowls. Keep in mind, though — Dollar Tree also sells the bowls in red and blue as well. Pick whichever color screams yummy candy to you the most, or use a variety of colors. The project can be completed with nothing more than a strong craft glue, but you might want other fun supplies like spray paint, glitter, ribbon, or fairy lights to really add a touch of winter magic to your home.
Here's how to make the cutest candy decor on the block
Start by putting glue around the rim of one of the punch bowls, then place the other punch bowl upside down on top. Essentially, it should look like a globe. Next, put glue on the bottom of the fluted bowls, and attach them to the flat parts of the globe. There's no question that it'll resemble a classic piece of wrapped candy! Be sure to let it dry. If you're looking to make it even more realistic or festive, customize it in a special way. Wrap decorative ribbons around the ends of the candy, such as Dollar Tree's Christmas House Wire-Edged Ribbon, for an extra pop.
You could also spray paint the globe section of the candy prior to attaching the fluted bowls. Then, cover it with sparkly glitter or fake snow. Keep the outer bowls clear, and they'll really look like the plastic wrap. Or, instead of paint, another idea is to carefully drill a hole into one of the candy's ends after the piece is completed. Thread a string of fairy lights through the hole of the decoration, then tape the battery pack down so it's hidden. Flip it on at night for a beautiful holiday glow.
These jumbo candy pieces would be a joyful addition to a living room, especially if you love over-the-top Christmas decor. As long as the weather isn't frightful, you could also use them as decorations for your yard. Spread them out, or incorporate them into a whimsical holiday scene with other items. They could even become your new favorite Christmas candy!
