While Christmas is one of the most magical times of the year, it's also one of the most expensive. Between buying gifts and hosting dinner parties, funds can dwindle fast, which is why a little DIY action is one of the best ways to decorate for Christmas on a budget. If you want to save some money or are just looking for a simple project to try on craft night, TikToker @Easy_Crafts has you covered with this stunning Christmas tree made with aluminum foil.

The supplies you'll need include aluminum foil, a silver cardboard cone with a small hole cut in the top, red yarn or ribbon, a hot glue gun, and a tiny star wand to use as the topper. These Rhode Island Novelty Mini Sequin Star Wands from Amazon would work perfectly. And while you're looking through your craft supply cabinet, be sure to check out these other creative Christmas decorations you can make with household items to see if any of these other projects strike your fancy.

How to make the cutest tin foil Christmas tree craft

To make this festive Christmas tree, tear several sheets of aluminum foil and stack them in a pile. Wad each sheet into a ball until you have enough to cover your cardboard cone. Feel free to play with the size of the aluminum foil balls, customizing them to your liking. Once your balls are formed, attach them to the cone using a hot glue gun, working from the bottom to the top. Next, cut your ribbon so it's long enough to wrap around the wand a couple of times with plenty left to wind around the tree. With the ribbon wrapped around the wand's base, place it into the hole at the top of the cardboard cone. Then spiral the excess ribbon around your aluminum foil tree, starting at the top and working your way down. For extra security, add a small dollop of hot glue inside the bottom of the cardboard cone and secure the ribbon.

Don't be afraid to put your own spin on this craft. You can use any paint suitable for DIY cardboard projects to color the cone your favorite shade, play with different ribbons and tree toppers, or paint a few of the aluminum foil balls for a pop of color. And if you don't have a cardboard craft cone on hand, no problem. Any type of thin cardboard — like a posterboard — can be shaped into a cone, or you could even repurpose an old birthday party hat.
