'Tis the season to be creative! As the holidays approach, decorations inside and outside the home will be dedicated to classic Christmas paraphernalia. Traditional stings of ornaments on trees and bright red poinsettia flowers are a frequent sight this time of year. But if you're looking for a clever way to celebrate the season, you're in luck! Pivot your decor to highlight the winter weather so it can remain even after Christmas day. With just a few fixtures that can be purchased at Dollar Tree, you can make a stunning snowflake creation that will quickly become a frosty favorite. The final product will make your home feel Christmas magic even if you don't have a tree.
TikTok user @kemoverfourtyfine is responsible for this simple and inexpensive activity. The adorable DIY includes six White Table-Top Mini Artificial Christmas Trees from Dollar Tree, each measuring eighteen inches high. In addition, you'll need a glue gun with glue sticks, zip ties or fasteners of your choice, and a flat snowflake ornament that matches the white Christmas trees. Together they will make a statement snowflake perfect to display on your wall or over your dining table. It can even replace a wreath for festive Christmas joy on your front porch.
Turn mini white Christmas trees into a sparkling snowflake
For this craft, you'll remove the stands from the bottoms of 6 white Dollar Tree mini trees, so the metal base is uncovered. Flatten each tree, and separate out any bunched up tree branches before laying the trees down, opposite each other, in a circle to form the shape of a snowflake. Take your hot glue gun and glue the medal rod at the bottom of one tree directly against the second tree's medal rod base. Tighten with a zip tie to make sure the bond is secure.Once your creation is complete, there will likely still be some empty space in the middle. To mask the metal, @kemoverfourtyfine glued down a flat ornament that was also purchased at Dollar Tree.
From here, design possibilities are yours to try! You can utilize battery-powered lights if you prefer to add some extra shine or illuminate your snowflake at night. Adding a light spray of Krylon diamond dust glitter can make this decoration extra magical. Loop fishing line around the top branch so it can hang from a hook. If you want to go big, make one of these decorations for each window in your home. Or pair your giant snowflake with DIY ice lanterns to make your porch look like a winter fantasy.
