If you're an avid DIYer, the holiday season is like your Super Bowl. From handmade gift tags to paper chains galore, there's no shortage of fun, easy crafts to get into this time of year. If you're looking for yet another fun holiday DIY to add to your rotation, consider taking on this clever craft to create a unique piece of kitchen decor. Using a cutting board and a few other supplies, you can create a simple, stylish wall hanging in less than five minutes.

You more than likely already have a majority of the materials you need for this project lying around your house already. First and most importantly, you need a cute cutting board with a handle that you can hang up. We're following ideenliebe.ina's Instagram tutorial so if you want to stay true to her idea, you can use a round walnut wood cutting board. You can just as easily make it your own by opting for a different style. For instance, you could go for this funky Pioneer Woman Wood Rectangle Serving Board or something more natural looking, like this cutting board with a mango wood leaf shape. You can also scour your local thrift store for more unique options. Once you have your cutting board, you'll need to gather two tea towels, scissors, twine, golden utensils, and a spring of pine branches to create this DIY.

Create your own cutting board wall hanging

Your first order of business is using the two tea towels to create a bow. Ina uses beige waffle print towels but you can opt for another color or design. For more of a jolly, holiday feel, use tea towels with a plaid, red and green Christmas print. Fold one of your towels into a square with the folded portion facing down. Now take your other towel and form a long rectangle lengthways. Drape your second folded towel over your square to form a cross. Now take the excess length of the long towel and fold it around the back of the smaller square. Adjust it so the longer rectangle is even. It should look like a bow. Cut an 8-inch piece of twine and tie it under the smaller square around the tails of the long rectangle. This will help your bow keep its shape.

Use that same twine to hang the decorative gold utensils and sprigs of pine. If you don't have gold utensils, play around with what will look best for your design. You can hang a brass bell or Christmas ornaments for a more festive look. You can even swap out the pine for holly or mistletoe. Feel free to experiment until you find an embellishment that suits your wall decor best. Once you're done, hang your masterpiece in the kitchen or display it on your counter.
