You can't just slap on new paint. Because of this, some professionals suggest keeping your kitchen counter rather simple in color and patterns. If you still want something bold, it's often better to use it on elements that are easier to update, like cabinets. You can also add fun wallpaper or paint your walls for a burst of something fun, as both are cheaper and easier to replace than a counter.

Another option is to lean into earthy tones. Since natural tones are trending for 2026, choosing shades that fit the theme while remaining more neutral is a great balance between trending and timeless. Beiges, taupes, creams, and light browns are all options that provide this balance. You can also consider one of the biggest kitchen countertop trends for 2026. Including quartz, the popular options include natural-enhancing materials like concrete, stone, and warm tones.
