The Laundry Room Find That's Great For Small Spaces & Keeps You Organized

If you have a small laundry room, you're probably used to maximizing every square inch. You're probably also used to never having enough space, especially for those clothing items that need to be line-dried. You can only lay so many delicates across the top of the dryer, and the tiny bit of counter space you have is currently holding detergent, dryer sheets, and a few stain sticks you aren't sure even work. You end up hanging clothes all over the house to dry, and as much as you love your favorite peacock-blue cashmere sweater (you do wear it to work every Friday, after all), you'd rather not have it be a statement piece in your kitchen. Fortunately for you, we found a simple laundry room storage solution that'll keep your space clutter-free and finally give you somewhere to hang your sweater other than over the pantry door.

The Whitmor Magnetic Laundry Valet Hanging Rod is a magnetic clothes rack that attaches to the side of your washer or dryer using strong magnets. The horizontal pole at the top allows you to hang your delicates, creating functional space seemingly out of thin air. Since it's literally attached to the machine, you can hang your clothes the second you take them out of the washer to avoid letting those nasty wrinkles set in. The magnetic attachments make it especially renter-friendly, as it's easy to remove without damaging the walls or any built-in structures. It's an easy, functional way to sneak more storage into your laundry room, and who doesn't want more of that?

Clothing racks that keep small laundry rooms organized

While the Whitmor laundry rack is a phenomenal find and has great reviews on Amazon, it's not always in stock. We also realize that it might not work in every laundry room. It works, in part, because it allows the horizontal rod to create hanging space above the washer or dryer. If you have a stackable washer-dryer set, that proves to be a bit tricky. If you have open space to one side, you can turn the horizontal rod away from the set, and it can still work. But if your stackables are enclosed in a closet or otherwise configured without open space to one side, the magnetic rack won't work for you.

Don't worry, though. We found a couple of other options for you. This Holdn' Storage Over-the-Door Hanger provides a clever way to make use of the laundry room door. You simply slip it over the door (hence the name), and when you need it, slide it open to reveal a bar to hang your delicates on. When not in use, it can collapse into itself so it's not in the way. For a similar idea, you can use the Tajsoon Over-the-Door Hanger with Storage Rack. It's not as sleek and won't fold up when not in use, but it adds a shelf for extra storage and S-hooks that can be helpful for drying delicates like undergarments or swimwear.
