Turn A Dollar Tree Wine Glass Into A Romantic Valentine's Day Candle With A DIY
If you're a sentimental, tender soul with a love for all things adorable, you're probably on the side of embracing Valentine's Day despite what the cynics have to say. A holiday drenched in hearts, chocolate, and love? It's certainly a holiday worth celebrating. No amount of grumbling from the peanut gallery can dull the sparkle of a true Valentine's Day. If you find yourself eager to embrace the beauty of the holiday, what better way to get into the spirit of it all than a festive Dollar Tree DIY to decorate on a budget? With a wine glass you can find at Dollar Tree and some other simple materials, you can craft a romantic Valentine's Day candle.
For this project, you'll need a wine glass, Seasonal Collection Mini Heart Ornaments, a hot glue gun, small dried flowers, red candle wax, and a candle wick. Dollar Tree has a wide selection of wine glasses to choose from such as the Libbey Pink Sprayed Stemless Wine Glass or Long Stem Wine Glass. You can find small dried flowers and candle wicks at your local craft store or online resources such as Etsy. To customize this craft, you can choose from a wide range of wax options. Feel free to go for pink or white instead of red wax. You can also use unscented wax and create your own unique scent blend. Rose, jasmine, and vanilla are considered to be particularly romantic fragrances. With your materials in order, it's time to start crafting your adorable Valentine's Day decor.
How to craft a Dollar Tree V-Day candle
Start by removing the top of the mini ornament and cleaning the wine glass thoroughly. Now glue the ornament to the bottom of your wine glass. Place your dried floral in the hole at the top of your mini ornament. Fill two thirds of your wine glass with water.
Now it's time to melt your wax. If you don't have a wax melter, you can still easily melt your wax with kitchen tools. Find a heat safe bowl that can rest on top of a sauce pot. Fill the sauce pot with water and bring it to a boil. Once the water is boiling, place the bowl on top of the pot. Put your candle wax into the bowl and allow it to melt down completely.
Slowly pour the melted wax on top of the water in an even layer. If you pour the wax too quickly, it may form wax "legs" below the waterline. To avoid this all together, you can opt to use sand wax instead. It easily floats on water in an even layer. Either way, after you pour in your wax, it's time to insert your candle wick. If you opt for traditional melted wax, you'll need to wrap the length of the wick on a stick and rest it on the wine glass. This will help keep the wick in place. Allow it to dry and there you have it! A romantic DIY candle just in time for Valentine's Day.
