Turn Ordinary Dollar Tree Finds Into An Eye-Catching Vase For Faux Flowers

Instead of buying an expensive vase from a fancy boutique, why not make one out of cheap Dollar Tree finds? All you need for this clever DIY are two hexagonal mirrors, a bit of white floral foam, and some mirrorball adhesive to make a glam-inspired vase for fake flowers. The mirrored sides catch the light beautifully, making it a stunning addition to your home decor collection, and no one will ever guess it only cost you a few dollars.

The idea is to use the floral foam to connect the mirrors and create a thin and narrow vase structure. To do so, you'll just need to cut small pieces of foam and attach them with hot glue to the edges of the mirrors. Then, you'll cover and hide the foam with a bit of decorative adhesive. Of course, this isn't a functional vase that can be used for water, which is exactly why we said it's perfect for faux flowers. You can create beautiful floral home decor by pairing it with affordable Dollar Tree fake flowers and foliage. You can even swap them out based on the season or your mood.

And because this DIY vase is made of mirrors, it serves more than one purpose. There are many ways to style this vase in your home. You can place it on a shelf by the door, allowing you to catch a glimpse of your hair and makeup before heading out, or it can also be used near a window to reflect the light and help brighten your space. No matter where you place it and how you style it, it's a nice addition to bring personality and elegance into your space without breaking the bank.

How to DIY a vase with mirrors

To do this hack, you'll need two hexagon mirrors from Dollar Tree, which cost $1.25 each. These exist in white or black, so pick whichever color you like best. You'll also need a piece of white floral craft foam, which costs $1.75. To cut it into smaller pieces, use a serrated knife or utility knife. And finally, to cover the sides of the vase and hide the foam, get a roll of adhesive mirror tiles (like those on a disco ball). For example, PP Opount's Self Adhesive Mosaic Tiles cost $6.98, and Walmart has a similar product for $8.99.

To assemble everything, cut five thin pieces of white foam with your blade to go on all but one edge of the mirrors. Cut these pieces in a long rectangular shape (a bit like a french fry) that's about five inches long and one inch thick. Then, glue the "foam fries" to the edges of the mirror with hot glue, leaving just one edge open for the opening of the vase. These pieces of foam won't be visible, so don't worry about making them perfect. There can be gaps between the pieces, as long as the structure is overall sturdy and secure. Once the glue has cured and the structure of the vase is done, cover all of those five edges with the mirrorball adhesive. And that's it! Place the DIY vase down with the open edge on top, and fill it with faux flowers.

If you like the shape of this DIY but don't like the mirror aspect, you can use a beautiful stained-glass DIY technique and apply colored window paint onto it. You can also use this technique with black window paint to write a message or word onto the mirror.
