This Strawberry Anthropologie Lamp Is Sold Out, But This DIY Can Help You Get The Look

If you're an avid lover of all things strawberry, then this now sold-out strawberry lamp from Anthropologie was probably one of the pieces of furniture that spoke to you, but unfortunately vanished before you could get your hands on it. Instead of searching resellers far and wide, yearning for a lamp that costs more than $200, consider this another opportunity to recreate the lamp and get an Anthropologie decor look for less with a genius DIY dupe. First, you will need to find a lamp suitable for the project. Head to the thrift store and find something with a similar silhouette: look for one with a round base, and with a lampshade material close to the original or one you can easily swap to match the original.

For this DIY project, you will also need white air dry clay, acrylic paints in red, green, yellow, and white, and a can of acrylic sealer spray. A set of clay sculpting tools and paintbrushes can help make the process smoother, but your own two hands can do the trick. Once you've gathered everything you will need for this DIY, only a few more easy steps stand in between you and your own whimsical strawberry lamp for a fraction of the price.

How to DIY the strawberry Anthropologie lamp

First, clean your thrifted lamp by wiping away any dust, grease, or other residue, to help make sure the paint and clay will stick onto its surface. Next, revitalize your thrifted lamp by applying a base coat using white acrylic paint. After priming your lamp, get your air dry clay and begin sculpting the decorative shapes. Roll thin clay strips to create vines; flatten small, oval shapes for your leaves, adding grooves or leaf veins for a more realistic look; and shape strawberries and tiny flowers in different sizes.

Once done, place the vines on the lamp first to help structure the flow and placement of the remaining decorative shapes. Next, place the leaves along the sides and ends of the vines, then carefully place your strawberries and flowers accordingly. Blend the edges of the clay pieces smoothly onto the lamp base before letting the whole thing dry. For larger pieces, you may want to let a piece dry before gluing it onto the lamp.

Once the clay has fully dried, paint all of the vines, leaves, flowers, and strawberries in their respective colors. Let this next coat of paint dry before applying an even coat of acrylic sealer spray to protect the structure. Lastly, match the lampshade to complement the whole look – opt for a neutral, linen shade in cream or white for a more accurate recreation of the strawberry lamp. Place your newly made unique decorative lighting wherever a space needs a touch of whimsy: put it on your kitchen countertop, your reading nook table, or on your bedside drawer.
