The Property Brothers Have An Easy Way To DIY Adorable Easter Decor
Jonathan and Drew Scott, better known as the Property Brothers, are beloved facets of the home improvement world. As a real estate agent and a licensed contractor with plenty of experience helping their clients elevate their spaces, these brothers always have a host of clever home design tricks up their sleeves. While they're primarily praised for their work flipping houses for their hit HGTV shows, these identical twins know their way around a festive DIY too – like with these giant string Easter eggs.
The Property Brothers went on "Rachael Ray" to share this easy and adorable DIY for spring using just a handful of materials. To recreate this simple Easter DIY that will elevate your decor, all you need is balloons, pastel-colored thread, craft glue, a sponge brush, ribbon, tweezers, and a needle. This is a great project for the whole family. "It's all about choosing bright pops of color and, I think the great thing too, you could have each of the kids pick their favorite color and they can make their own," one of the brothers shared. He emphasized that this craft holds up pretty well but to keep in mind that it won't do well outside if it rains.
How to craft and style DIY string Easter eggs
Start this project by blowing up balloons. Each balloon will be a different egg. You can make them different sizes for some visual variability. Now reach for the thread. Be sure to pick striking springtime colors for more of an impact. You can use one color or combine a few different hues.
Randomly wrap the colorful thread around the balloon over and over until it's covering a large amount of the balloon. Once you're satisfied with the coverage, it's time to reinforce the egg shape. Fill a small bowl with equal parts craft glue and water. Then, use a sponge brush to saturate the threads in glue and allow it to dry completely. Once the glue is completely dry, use a needle or push pin to puncture the balloon. You may need to poke it in a couple different spots to get the balloon to fully deflate. Use a pair of tweezers to remove the balloon from the center of your egg. Now tie a ribbon to the top of the egg and hang them around the house for an instant boost of spring vibrance!
To personalize this DIY custom spring decor further, play around with the size of the balloons or use them as pieces of a larger DIY. For instance, you could start with water balloons as a base to create smaller eggs. Use these mini eggs in a bowl for a centerpiece or perhaps as little ornaments to hang from your houseplants. Alternatively, you can make an entire egg balloon arch or arrange several eggs together on a tree display like the Property Brothers.
