Turn A Garden Trellis Into A Useful Kitchen Storage Solution

It's no secret that a garden trellis can be used to support any number of hanging plants and climbing vines in the garden, but most folks don't realize that these criss-crossing structures have utility inside the home as well. Just as the various gaps and lines of the trellis' design can create spaces to organize long, trailing greenery, they also make a great storage solution for bulky pots and pans, utensils, and other kitchen items. Plus, the unique look of an indoor trellis makes this hack as attractive as it is practical.

While you can buy a new trellis for your kitchen, you could also repurpose an unused one from your garden (especially a trellis that is going out of style); just be sure to clean it thoroughly, and ensure that it's structurally sound before bringing it into your home. Then, all you have to do is find an empty wall in your kitchen to hang the trellis up. If you're only planning on storing light kitchenware on the rack, you can simply hang the trellis on nails or hooks installed on the wall. However, if you want to hang up heavier tools such as steel or enamel cookware, consider anchoring the trellis by screwing the frame directly into the wall studs, or using plastic wall anchors if needed.

Garden trellises are perfect for hanging cookware

To make your space feel more like a working kitchen, you could also repurpose a garden trellis into a hanging pot rack instead of mounting it on the wall. Using a bit of DIY knowledge, add hooks along one side of the trellis that you can attach to chains anchored to your ceiling. Then, add more hooks to the opposite side so you can hang your pots and pans. No matter where you decide to install your DIY pots and pan storage rack, consider treating the garden trellis with a wood stain or fresh coat of paint first so it matches your kitchen's aesthetic perfectly.

It's a great way to organize pots and pans for a clutter-free kitchen. Your new kitchen trellis will make all of your cooking tools easily accessible, but the benefits don't stop there. Along with being a beautiful installation in its own right, the trellis can also be used to display a variety of decor among the kitchenware to add even more character to the room.
