The Easy Way To DIY A Chic Jute Bowl - No Matter The Size

This DIY bowl is made from jute rope, which is formed from a jute plant. The fibers from this plant are known to be quite strong, which makes the rope a sturdy choice for creating a quality bowl that will last. Plus, jute rope is affordable and readily available at your local craft store or the craft section of most big box stores. You can make any size jute bowl with this DIY because you'll use a bowl you already have on hand as the mold. Whether it's a large mixing bowl or a smaller dish, you can customize the size simply by selecting the appropriate container.

In addition to the jute rope and bowl, you'll also need plastic wrap, Mod Podge, and sponge paint brushes. You can find all three of these items at your local Dollar Tree to keep things budget-friendly. Once you have all your supplies, a beautiful home decor bowl is just one DIY away.

If you've been looking for clever ways to repurpose a mixing bowl around the house, this is your chance. To start, flip the bowl upside down and cover it completely with plastic wrap to protect it. Fold the plastic wrap under the rim of the bowl to secure it all down. Cover the bowl with a hefty amount of Mod Podge, using a sponge brush to make sure it's all covered. 

Then, take one end of the jute rope, and starting at the center of the bowl, begin to wrap the rope in a circular pattern, like a cinnamon roll. Continue in that fashion until the entire bowl is covered in jute rope. Cut the end if you have excess rope. Once again, generously pour a layer of Mod Podge over the jute, using the sponge brush to make sure it's fully covered and gets into all the nooks and crannies. This is going to hold everything together and will dry clear. 

Let everything dry completely, preferably overnight or up to 24 hours. Once dry, you can gently lift the jute bowl off the mixing bowl and peel off the plastic wrap. Now that your jute bowl is complete, you can style it however you'd like. To add to the natural decor theme, fill it with pine cones and greenery, or nautical vase filler balls and seashells.
