This Dollar Tree Upcycle Is Both Functional And Decorative
The best DIYs aren't always the most complicated. In fact, it can be really fun to take a few simple dollar store household items and turn them into unique DIY home decor that's also functional. For example, two simple mirrors from Dollar Tree can turn into a nice vase.
The idea for this DIY project, which comes from TikTok creator juju.cares, is incredibly simple. They used two hexagonal mirrors from Dollar Tree, some beads, and hot glue to create a one-of-a-kind vase. This isn't a functional vase for live flowers because it cannot hold any water or moisture, but it's perfect for decorative fake flowers or dried ones. Plus, because the vase is made of mirrors, you can use it to check yourself out. It's a two-in-one DIY!
This DIY vase can be placed on a shelf, vanity, or credenza to add both style and functionality to your space. And the best part is that this won't cost you more than a few dollars. Two hexagonal mirrors from Dollar Tree will cost $2.50 in total, and the crafters wood beads cost just $1.25 for a pack of 24 (you'll need two packs, so $2.50). Of course, you can also reuse beads you already have at home, as long as they're all identical. You'll need around 42 beads, depending on size, and they should all be at least half an inch to 1 inch in diameter. And if you don't have access to a hot glue gun, you can use hard glue instead. In short, there's no reason not to try this out.
How to DIY a vase with Dollar Tree mirrors and beads
This Dollar Tree DIY uses mirrors to give you a luxe look on a budget. Start by unwrapping and cleaning both hexagonal mirrors. Next, work on the back of the mirrors, one edge at a time. Apply hot glue to the back of a bead (one of the sides with the holes) and gently place it along the side of the mirror. Repeat this step to cover all but one edge of the mirror, which will be the opening of the vase.

Now, apply hot glue to the back of the second mirror. Here, you'll want hot glue on all but one side, so that it matches perfectly with the beaded sides on the other mirror. Press the mirror onto the beads gently so that the glue adheres to them. Let this cure until it's solid, and you're done. You can place this on a flat surface, using the edge opposite the opening as the base. Place a few dried flowers or fake flowers into the opening, and enjoy! You can also use it for makeup brushes, paint brushes, and other long, thin objects.
To take advantage of the mirrored sides of the vase, place it on a shelf by the entryway for last-minute hair checks. Another fitting spot is your vanity or bathroom counter, or leave it near a window to reflect light into your space. You can also decorate the mirror with glass paint, for example, by creating small designs, patterns, or writing a word on the mirror. You could also use holographic contact paper to add some color to the DIY.
