LG Dryers No Longer Have The Highest Ranking For Customer Satisfaction
After spending about $800 to $1,200 (on average) on a new clothes dryer, you'd expect it to function as advertised for about 10 to 13 years. However, you'd soon be looking for a new model if your unit starts taking too long to dry a wet load, you have to clean two lint filters, or the condenser starts heating up abnormally. Things will also take a turn for the worse if your smart dryer misreads a load, takes eons to pair, or draws too much energy. Any of these issues, no matter how minor in the grand scheme of things, will taint your satisfaction with a unit. To ensure this doesn't happen with you, it's always advised to invest in the most trustworthy and reliable appliance brands. And according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), that's Samsung and Whirlpool as far as a clothes dryer is concerned, dethroning LG.
With 82 points each in the ACSI study, these two brands are tied in customer satisfaction with dryers. To arrive at this conclusion, this organization actively collected data from July 2024 to June 2025 for this annual report. It considered six household names, like Samsung, Bosch, LG, Whirlpool, Haier, and Electrolux. A few small-scale companies were given weight, too, but it isn't specified which manufacturers were pitted against these brands. So, don't just take their word for it and conduct your own research to minimize regrets later. This is because the top-rated brands (including Whirlpool and Samsung) also have dryers you should avoid, according to customer reviews.
Looking at Samsung's range of clothes dryers
To investigate how Samsung's clothes dryers perform in the real world, we hopped onto the brand's U.S. website and checked the average star rating for the listed models. The South Korean company has about 30 dryers (including electric, gas, ventless, all-in-one combo, AI-first, and stacked washer and dryer) on its page, with the majority of units sporting an average star rating of 4 and higher. The four models with an average rating below 4 are either electric or loaded with AI-specific features. That's not to say that all such "smart" or "sophisticated" units will lead to headaches in the future, as most of Samsung's lineups offer such dryers.
To dive in deeper, we pitted the feature-rich Bespoke AI Front Load Electric Dryer against the Top Load Electric Dryer and checked their user reviews. The former is available in both gas and electric and has an average star rating of 4.4 after being reviewed over 250 times. Its features and design have been rated 4.6, while its performance comes in at 4.5. Praising the unit, a purchaser shared, "Excellent dryer – quiet, dries clothes fast, the app is perfect for monitoring drying time, and it looks incredible sitting in my laundry room. The dark blue color is stunning." As for the latter, it has an average star rating of 3.9 after garnering more than 250 reviews. Customers gave its performance and features 3.9 stars, whereas its design received a solid 4. Most users with a bad experience cited issues with how long the unit takes to dry a load, with one opining, "My clothes are still wet after turning the dryer on 3 times."
Looking at Whirlpool's range of clothes dryers
Coming to Whirlpool, the brand retails about 32 dryers — 16 electric, 15 gas, and 1 supporting LP gas — on its site. Most electric units (11 out of 16) have an average star rating of 4 or higher. On the flip side, a slightly higher number of gas-based models (11 out of 15) are rated above 4. The lone LP gas offering is a hit and flaunts an average star rating of 4.3 (after being reviewed over 2,500 times). To see how gas vs electric dryers performed in real-world conditions, we chose one top-performer from each category.
Representing the electric category, Whirlpool's Top Load Electric Dryer with AutoDry™ Drying System has an average star rating of 4.5 and nearly 6,000 reviews on the site. Users like this 7-cubic-foot dryer's capacity most and have rated it 4.8. Its ease-of-use is a close second and has a rating of 4.7. Its performance, design, quality, and features are appreciated, too. Relating their experience with the model, a user noted, "I've had my dryer for about a year now. I've had the chance to do weekly loads, lots of towels, sheets, delicates, even rugs. Love the various settings and especially the cycle signal!"
As for gas models, we hand-picked the Top Load Gas Dryer with AutoDry™ Drying System. It, too, has an average star rating of 4.5 and has gathered close to 2,000 reviews. Consumers appreciate its capacity the most and have rated it 4.7. A happy user wrote, "It's a great machine with the hamper style door and light!" That being said, a few customers pointed out that both these dryers require multiple cycles.
