One of the easiest home upgrades that doesn't involve complete remodeling is improving your lighting. You want consistent brightness in your living space and great ambiance. Unfortunately, most breathtaking light fixtures are pretty expensive. So if you're on a tight budget, your best bet is to recreate the look you want with a simple DIY. There's an excellent idea by DIYer @diy_decoration_by_adisa on Instagram you should try out. With just a few empty tubes, you can create a stunning vertical indoor light feature that easily rivals a high-end store purchase.

For this project, you'll need a long, empty tube that you can cut into different lengths. These tubes should be heavy-duty, such as the leftover roll from stretch film or cardboard shipping tubes. In addition, you need battery-operated LED fairy lights like these Ariceleo LED Fairy Lights on Amazon, spray paint, a long wooden rod, and some artificial foliage for decoration. Tools to have ready are a hot glue gun and glue stick, and a hand saw or knife for cutting the tube.

From empty tubes into a luxurious vertical LED light

Start by cutting your tube into three small sections (each about 2 inches long) and one long piece. Spray all sections with a matte-finish spray paint, such as Rust-Oleum Ultra Matte Spray Paint, on both the inner and outer surfaces. Go for color black if you like a modern dark aesthetic. Otherwise, feel free to try another color you prefer, like brown — the once-hated color that's becoming a cozy home decor staple all over again. Next, grab the long wooden rod and glue it to the inside of the long tube. Also, attach the three smaller tubes, evenly spaced, to the upper end of the rod using the hot glue.

Next, add lighting to this vertical tubing setup. Pick your LED fairy lights and attach the battery end to the inside of the topmost tube using hot glue. Now wrap the rest of the fairy lights around the wooden rod in such a way that the lights appear to be peaking through the tubes. To finish up, place some artificial greenery inside each tube like these HO2NLE Faux Eucalyptus Leaves. And that's it. All you need to do now is put your indoor lighting feature in your preferred spot. This could be in one corner of your living room or next to your doorway as an effortless way to upgrade your entryway lighting.

There's always room for customization with DIYs, and this one is no exception. You could give this DIY a rustic feel by wrapping the empty tubes all around with jute twine. Apart from that, feel free to add embellishments to your lighting feature to make it more glamorous.
