Upcycle Wooden Spoons Into Hanging Rustic Decor For Your Porch

For folks who like looking at nature, rustic decor may be the best way to bring the feel of the outdoors inside. In addition to wooden spoons, you'll also need scissors, hot glue, jute cord, wooden beads, some scrap cardboard cut into circles, and a wooden ring. All of these items can be found at your local craft store. Alternatively, you could try upcycling plastic spoons to create this hanging decor piece, or even use thrift store spoons, as long as you have the right tools to safely cut them.

To create the flowers for your hanging decoration, cut the heads off the wooden spoons. Next, take one of your circular cardboard pieces, apply a dollop of hot glue onto the edge of the circle, and place one of the spoon heads onto it, making sure it's secured to the cardboard. Keep gluing spoon heads along the edges of the circle to create the first layer of flower petals. You can then glue more spoon heads in between the first layer to fully fill out the wooden flower. To give the flower more of a realistic look, glue wooden beads in the center of the flower to form the flower innards. Repeat until you have enough flowers for your hanging decor piece. 

With the flowers created, you can assemble your rustic floral wreath by arranging and gluing your wooden flowers onto the bottom of your wooden ring. Complete the piece by wrapping jute cord around any exposed part of the ring, using any excess cord to create a loop, so you can hang your decor piece anywhere inside or outside of your home. As a cute finishing touch, you can make a decorative bow out of jute cord and wooden beads to add to your new hanging decor. 

As for how to display your rustic-inspired floral wreath, you could adorn your walls, windows, or doors with just one, or you can create and connect multiple decor pieces side-by-side, on a long strand of twine, to create a rustic-inspired garland to hang along a mantle or above a screen doorway.
