Woman Uses Old Oven Racks To Create Beautiful Flower And Dessert Displays

Pretty presentations can make dining tables and kitchen countertops feel more inviting and whet one's appetite, especially if you want people to try your newest dessert recipes. The good news is you do not need new or finer serveware to keep your tablescapes more interesting; all you need is creativity and a quick look around the kitchen.

Sustainable stylist and content creator Sarah Teresinski (@redeux_style on TikTok) shared a creative way to transform ordinary oven racks into chic displays for both flowers and desserts, which can come in handy the next time you host gatherings at home. For this, you'll start with an oven rack, a bowl filled with water, some electrical tape, an assortment of your favorite flowers — fresh, dried, or artificial works — and the sweet treats you'll place on the rack. Working with a clean, plain wire rack is fine, but if you want a pop of color and a more layered look, you can paint the rack or cover it with a piece of fabric or even some decorative napkins or parchment paper.

The bowl needs to be deep enough to store enough water for your flowers and wide enough to support the oven rack evenly. Since you will be carrying the entire structure by holding it from the bowl's base, you'll find it best to work with glass or ceramic bowls. Compared to plastic bowls, which are usually more lightweight, glass or ceramic bowls are heavier and sturdier.

Create an easy, portable flower and dessert display

Simply set your oven rack on top of the bowl and place your florals through the rack and into the bowl to create a stunning flower arrangement. If you want your flowers to stay in place, try adding strips of tape over the bowl to form a grid. This will create little squares that serve as a guide for inserting the flowers. Electrical tape may work better than using floral tape or other kinds of tape for this DIY, since you will need a water-resistant adhesive that can also stick to the bowl. Floral tape only often sticks to itself, and other types may wear down easily as it gets wet. For extra security, you can tape the oven rack and the bowl together so the rack won't accidentally get knocked off.

Once all the flowers are set, place your desserts onto the rack. You can place them directly on top for a simpler look, or place either napkins, wax paper, or fabric under each treat to get a more colorful, layered display. Fill out your table or countertop with more of these oven rack displays as needed. This easy-to-assemble solution can make a great decor piece to always have on your kitchen countertops. Experiment with bowls of different heights to create a more tiered tablescape, and work with a consistent color scheme to make your flowers pop and your desserts look more appetizing.
