They take a licking and keep on working," said one reviewer. As far as negatives, it seems that the company's quality control isn't always the best. "Both batteries in the set lasted four months max," wrote a one-star reviewer.

For the dad whose other baby is the lawn, another great Ryobi deal from Home Depot this Father's Day is the Ryobi One+ 18V 18 in. cordless battery hedge trimmer. The trimmer is yours for free with a qualifying purchase: a One+ 18V lithium-ion starter kit with one 2 Ah battery, one 4 Ah battery, and a charger, or a One+ 18V 13 in. cordless battery string trimmer with a 2.0 Ah battery and charger. While the deal for the hedge trimmer doesn't include a specific battery, both of the qualifying purchases do. 

Which deal you take really depends on your needs. The string trimmer only comes with a 2 Ah battery, so if you anticipate the string trimmer getting prolonged use, you may want to buy the string and hedge trimmer package and the heavily discounted One+ 18V High Performance battery kit for Father's Day 2026. 

The Ryobi hedge trimmer has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars, a 92% recommendation, and is one of the Ryobi tools that even skeptics of the brand may end up loving, according to the reviews. "So much easier to use than my corded trimmer and can make the bushes and trees look in tiptop shape in less time," says one reviewer on Home Depot's website. Some negative reviews mention improperly working blades and the machine smoking. A one-star review reads, "After only using the trimmer twice, the trimmer caught on fire and burnt out the motor."
