These Household Brands Are Owned By SC Johnson — Few People Realize They're All Related

SC Johnson, a family-owned company, has been a familiar name in American homes for decades. It's best known for cleaning, home storage, and pest control products, and there's a good chance you already have an SC Johnson product sitting somewhere in your home. Less likely, however, is maybe you being aware of all the brands under the SC Johnson umbrella. There are nearly 30 brands, and they're all members of SC Johnson's "family of brands."
For example, did you know that Windex and Ziploc were both SC Johnson companies? Or that Off! insect repellant and Method, a company know for home-cleaning and personal care products, were sister brands? Of course, these at times disparate household brands became related over the years through deals made by SC Johnson. Ziploc, for instance, joined SC Johnson in 1998 — along with Saran, Scrubbing Bubbles, and Fantastik — when SC Johnson acquired DowBrands, six years after SC Johnson's first major acquisition, of The Drackett Company, which brought Windex, as well as Drano, to the global manufacturer.
As for SC Johnson itself, the company was founded in 1886. In the following list, we go over its many brands today, grouped into five categories: home cleaning, pest control, air care, lifestyle, and home storage and shoe care.
SC Johnson owns 10 home-cleaning brands
If you think that SC Johnson's cleaning lineup begins and ends with Windex, then you have a lot to discover. Currently, 10 brands fall under SC Johnson's home-cleaning category: Bayclin, Duck, Drano, Fantastik, Lysoform, (the British brand) Mr Muscle, Pledge, Scrubbing Bubbles, Shout, and Windex. Together, these brands cover a wide range of chores, from glass and furniture care to bathroom cleaning, the removal of laundry stains, general surface cleaning, and the list just goes on.
That said, Windex is probably SC Johnson's best-known cleaning brand, closely associated with cleaning glass and windows. However, the product does more than that, as there are many other surprising ways you can use Windex around the home. As for SC Johnson's other home-cleaning brands, Drano and Scrubbing Bubbles make products for clogged drains and bathroom cleaning, respectively, while Shout produces laundry stain removers and Pledge products clean surfaces, including wood, stone, and stainless steel.
Fantastik is known for its multipurpose cleaners, while Bayclin offers bleach and disinfecting products. Duck specializes in bathroom and toilet cleaning, Lysoform in disinfectants, and Mr Muscle in everyday kitchen, bathroom, and household cleaning.
Several pest-control brands are also owned by SC Johnson
The second-largest category in SC Johnson's brand portfolio is pest control. Its current global brand page lists seven names in this category: Autan, Baygon, Off!, Pyrel, Raid, Exposis, and STEM. Several of these brands are more prevalent in other countries, which is why you might not have heard of them or seen them on store shelves, while with Off! and Raid, you may not have realized they were related.
Raid focuses on household insect control, and its U.S. range includes products for ants, cockroaches, flies, mosquitoes, spiders, wasps, hornets, fleas, ticks, bed bugs, and other pests, with options such as sprays and baits. Off!, by comparison, is centered on personal insect repellents, like mosquito repellant to help keep your outdoor space bug-free. Pyrel, which SC Johnson acquired in 2010 from Sara Lee (yes, of Sara Lee frozen desserts), Exposis, Autan, and Baygon are global brands better known outside of the U.S.; all specialize in managing insects in the home and controlling pests.
Lastly, there's Stem. It's a newer addition to the SC Johnson lineup of pest control, launched in 2022. The brand offers insecticides and repellents, including sprays for ants, roaches, flies, spiders, mosquitoes, gnats, and wasps. Stem's bug killers use botanical extracts, and so may be a brand you consider when looking for environmentally friendly ways to keep insects out of your house.
SC Johnson owns air-care brands like Oust and All Joy
SC Johnson's air-care business is smaller than its home-cleaning lineup, with three brands comprising this category: All Joy, Glade, and Oust. Let's start with Glade. It's probably the most recognizable of the three in the U.S.; it's been around since 1956 and offers several ways to add fragrance around the home. Its products include PlugIns scented oils, candles, automatic and manual air-freshener sprays, and small-room fresheners. The brand even makes wax melts.
Oust, on the other hand, puts more emphasis on odor elimination and is something you definitely would want to learn about if you're trying to control gross smells in your home. Oust's Odor Eliminator aerosol, for instance, is marketed for odors caused by things like pets, cooking, bathrooms, smoke, mold, and mustiness. Further, beyond neutralizing odors, it also leaves fragrance behind.
Lastly, there's All Joy, which is especially well-known in the Asian market. There, All Joy's products include aerosol air fresheners and solid air fresheners for indoor spaces and cars.
SC Johnson's portfolio includes lifestyle brands as well
Lifestyle brands at SC Johnson include those that manufacture products for bathing, laundry, dishes, and everyday family and personal care. Sister brands in this category include Babyganics, Caldrea, Ecover, Method, and Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day.
Babyganics, as the name suggests, is a brand geared toward babies and children; its lineup includes lotion, wipes, dish and bottle soap, and mineral sunscreen. Similarly, there's Caldrea, an SC Johnson brand that takes a more fragrance-focused approach to home and personal care, producing scented cleaning, washing, and personal-care products.
Method also crosses several categories. Along with all-purpose, bathroom, floor, dish, and laundry cleaners, it also produces hand wash, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, lotion, and deodorant. Method, which was bought by Ecover in 2012, became an SC Johnson company in 2018, when SC Johnson acquired both companies. Note that Ecover, which creates products for laundry, dishes, household cleaning, and personal care and has a mission to find a "cleaner way" (environmentally), has become more focused on the UK and European market in recent years.
Finally, Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day you've surely seen in the household cleaning aisle, but it also offers products for personal care. Not to mention, you probably saw Mrs. Meyer's, Ecover (when it was still on shelves), and Method as competitors — rather than being related companies now with the same parent.
SC Johnson offers home-storage solutions and shoe care, too
SC Johnson also owns two storage solution companies in Saran and Ziploc, and a shoe-care brand, Kiwi. SC Johnson describes its home-storage products as solutions that keep things fresh, protects items, and helps people organize their home. Saran is centered on plastic food wrap. Its Cling Plus and Premium Wrap products are designed to cling, which makes them useful in covering food and containers.
Ziploc covers a much wider range of storage jobs. From freezer bags, storage bags, sandwich and snack bags, and slider bags, it also manufactures specialty options and Endurables reusable silicone containers and pouches. The brand claims its freezer bags can help to protect food from freezer burn.
Lastly, the shoe-care brand Kiwi, which SC Johnson acquired in 2012, again from Sara Lee, is no longer available in U.S. stores, as of 2024. That said, its products are still available online at places like Amazon and Walmart, and it is still listed among the SC Johnson family of brands, as of 2026.
