House Digest Is Hiring Writers!
Are you looking for a chance to step into the world of home and garden content? House Digest, which covers everything from the latest interior design trends to plant care tips, is searching for passionate and creative writers to join our team who are comfortable writing short and long-form content.
Having professional interior design, gardening, or home improvement experience is a plus, whether you've worked at a garden nursery or as a residential contractor, but it isn't required. We're also looking for people who love scrolling through social media for home décor inspiration, enjoy tackling complex DIY projects, care for houseplants, and are the go-to person when someone needs help fixing an unexpected leak. If your interests and skills align with House Digest's brand and you have experience writing accurate and clean articles with an engaging voice, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
A scroll through House Digest's homepage will show you the wide range of home and garden content our writers cover, from thrifting tips to design hacks and lawn care maintenance tricks. Assignments may include cleaning tips, product roundups from Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe's, and other retailers, as well as home repairs.
One thing our writers aren't expected to do — unless they have a great idea they want to share — is pitch their own article ideas.
A variety of assignments are ready to claim on a daily basis, which allows our writers to focus on producing well-researched articles that flow well and engage readers from start to end.
What we're looking for
We want writers who are resourceful, confident, and able to produce original and well-researched content that stands out from our competitors. Our goal is to publish well-structured articles that are fun, informative, and easy-to-digest.
Because this is a fully remote position, the ability to work independently is a must (although someone will usually be around to answer questions). We ask that writers either commit to a set hourly schedule or a number of submissions each week.
For writers who are a good fit and produce quality work, there's potential for an ongoing, long-term freelance relationship. Many of our writers have been with us for years, and our steady flow of assignments can provide a level of consistency that isn't always easy to find in freelance work.
Rates are $21 – $25 per hour or $0.08 – $0.10 per word, based on qualifications. Our hiring process includes a paid trial article, followed by onboarding and paid training for candidates whose trial article meets the criteria we're looking for.
